Weaponology - Sniper Rifles (2007)
The cable documentary series Weaponology investigates the science of warfare as it has progressed and developed - over the centuries - from crude battlefield contraptions to diabolically inventive weaponry. Each episode hones in on one particular category of weapon and discusses its historical evolution and strategic employment on the front lines. The episode entitled "sniper rifles" discusses the background and use of the titular guns, designed to pick off human targets from a lengthy and safe vantage point. The program spans the entire history of the sniper rifle, from the German Jaegers of the 1700s to the Barrett AS50 of the 21th century, and reveals how weaponry has enabled snipers to now shoot at a distance of over 2,000 yards. Subtopics include sights, camouflage, bullets, sniper techniques and much more.
